Unfortunately, most of us have grown up under the “law” and were not at all taught about the GRACE we should be living in today. There is a huge distinction to be pointed out here between the law and Grace.
John 1:17 tells us that the law was given through Moses, BUT(one of my favorite words!) grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. God, through the Bible, is very specific in dealing with the two covenants and does not mix them together. Law is law (old) and grace is grace (new)!
Grace is not a doctrine or teaching: Grace is a Person. (Joseph Prince). Jesus came personally into the world and into our hearts. He did not come to give us more laws, but to give us the truth of what it is to be a child of the Father.
The initial outpouring of this grace is found in Acts chapter 2:1-4. As they were sitting in prayer, the “gift of the Holy Spirit” came upon them and they began to speak with other tongues. This speaking with other tongues is the sign that they had truly been transformed into a new being. This is the same Holy Spirit and the same sign that is given to each and every believer when they (1) confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord, and (2) believe in their heart that God has raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9 )
